Diesel Particle Filter system
The maximum allowed quantity of sulphur in the fuel will depend on the selected catalytic coating, but may not be higher than 1000 ppm or 0.1%. This coating ensures that the caught particulates oxidise at a lower temperature with oxygen. Without this coating, particulates would, after all, only oxidize or burn at approximately 600 °C. The type of catalytic coating is aligned with the engine type, load profile and the required hydrocarbon reduction by our engineers.
The temperature of the exhaust gases is usually insufficient to post-burn the particulates in the filters completely because generators are often loaded relatively low. For smaller generators up to approx. 200 kW, using an electric heater to regularly increase the temperature of the exhaust gases is an interesting solution from a cost price perspective when compared to an SFB burner system that is used for the DPF-S system.
