Diesel Particle Filter System
With the DPF-S system the diesel particle filters are coated with a catalytic layer. This coating ensures that the caught particulates oxidise at a lower temperature with oxygen. Without this coating, particulates would, after all, only oxidize or burn at approximately 600 °C. The maximum allowed quantity of sulphur in fuel will depend on the selected catalytic coating. The type of catalytic coating is aligned with the engine type, load profile and the required hydrocarbon reduction by our engineers. The maximum allowed quantity of sulphur in the fuel is 2000 ppm or 0.2%
The temperature of the exhaust gases is usually insufficient to post-burn the particulates in the filters completely because generators are often loaded relatively low.
The Xeamos SFB burner system ensures that the exhaust gases are regularly heated so that the diesel particulate filter stays clean. The burner and bypass have been integrated together very compactly where the hot gases of the burner are mixed intensively with the exhaust gases close to the diesel particulate filter elements. This ensures that we can regenerate at a high temperature; up to 600 °C. This ensures that regeneration is always reliable including with regard to sulphur-containing fuel and high particulate matter emissions of the engine.
