Motoryacht I-Nova exhaust system given star treatment

YACHTING

Launched by Greek yard Cosmo Explorer in 2013, the 50-metre motoryacht I-Nova won the ShowBoats Design Awards winner for Best Interior. This is a superyacht built primarily to enable the owners to explore the world in style and comfort so getting the exhaust system perfect has been a key recent priority.  Enter the experts from Xeamos…

An impressively seaworthy yacht with an ice-classed hull, I-Nova has been visiting all corners of the globe. Her range of 5,500 nautical miles at 12 knots has enabled the owners and up to 12 guests to embark on long-range passages. The exploration of remote areas demands a tip-top superyacht in terms of the onboard environment and the need to meet emission requirements.

Unfit for purpose
Unfortunately, it recently became apparent that the Diesel particle Filter (DPF) fitted on this globetrotting vessel was not fit for purpose. I-Nova’s crew were having to deal with multiple breakdowns, excessive counterpressure and short regeneration intervals. After contacting Xeamos, our team carefully examined the yacht’s status and likely needs, taking fully into account the clients’ concerns after having had such problems with their first DPF.

Two filters
The solution was to supply a first filter with a new exhaust system in order to ensure that the counterpressure was reduced to within the accepted values. The owners of I-Nova were very pleased with the way everything worked and then ordered a second soot filter for the yacht’s other generator.

The first filter was installed by Xeamos while the clients were able to arrange the installation of the second themselves while leveraging on our remote support service. Xeamos technicians took care of the commissioning of the whole system in a project that typifies the broad range of service and product on offer.
